I was reading Psalm 1 this morning, and noticed in the commentary that “blessed” can be read “oh how happy”. In context, you’d read, “Oh how happy is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked or stand in the seat of mockers. But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on that law he meditates day and night. He is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither. Whatever he does prospers.” What a perfect passage for this first day of Spring, and a brilliant reminder that happiness is found in the pursuit of God. I’ve been looking forward to Spring for weeks now, so this morning, I took my sweet time soaking up the sun, enjoying the Word, and sipping coffee from my brand new spring-y coffee mug. This little slice of bread was an extra special treat because it’s from a loaf of friendship bread, which I made with starter I froze during hibernation this winter! I’m planning to stop by a flower shop later this afternoon to soak in spring flora. I hope you have big plans to enjoy the start of this season, which will hopefully be full of “oh how happy!” moments.
